SMS & Text Messaging Policy

This page describes how BolsterMed (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses text messaging (SMS) for professional reference surveys. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Reference nomination consent (in-product)
When a clinician candidate or authorized organization user nominates a professional reference, they enter the reference's name, email, and mobile number, then check a required consent box before submitting. BolsterMed then emails the reference and, when a mobile number is provided, sends a one-time text with a link to the survey.
What messages we send
BolsterMed sends transactional text messages to professional references nominated during clinician credentialing workflows. Messages include a secure link to complete a short reference survey about a clinician candidate. We do not send marketing or promotional texts through this program.
Who receives messages
Only people whose mobile number is provided as a professional reference receive these messages. References are typically supervisors, colleagues, or other professional contacts — not the clinician candidate themselves.
How consent is collected
Before a reference mobile number is submitted, the nominator must confirm: "I confirm this person agreed to be contacted by BolsterMed by email and text message for a professional reference survey about me." This attestation appears on the reference nomination form in the BolsterMed candidate portal and placement submission flow. Staffing organization users who submit reference contact information on behalf of a candidate must have verbal or written permission from the reference before providing their mobile number.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies. A reference typically receives an initial invite and may receive occasional reminders if the survey has not been completed. We do not send recurring promotional messages.
Opt out
References can opt out at any time by replying with one of these keywords: OPTOUT, CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE, STOP, STOPALL. After opting out, no further reference survey messages will be sent to that number from BolsterMed.
